I’ve written a short post about the journey that brought me to this stage in my life. It’s a personal reflection on the choices, challenges, and small moments of courage that helped me build a life and a business I love.
If you’re a mum wondering whether it’s too late to find your path, I hope my story offers encouragement. Many of us discover new directions later in life — sometimes through necessity, sometimes through curiosity — and those paths can be just as meaningful and rewarding.
My name is Sally and I’m a married mum of four grown-up children. For many years I was a stay-at-home mum, putting any career or personal dreams on hold to raise our family. Throughout that time I always loved designing and creating things, but I never had the time or resources to take it further.
Things changed for me in 2024. With the children grown and more time at home, I finally had the space to explore my passion.
My crafting journey officially began in June 2024.
My heart has always been in design and creativity. The real spark, however, ignited when I brought a machine to make some cake toppers.
My Daughter's upcoming wedding was the catalyst. She asked me to make her wedding invitations, although a wave of nerves washed over me, I decided to embrace this challenge. That first wedding invitation was a leap of faith, and it truly set me on this incredible path. My very first wedding invitation was born from that mix of trepidation and love. Seeing her joy as she adored the invitation was incredible. As time passed, a little voice in me whispered "I can do better". So I created another invitation and again she was thrilled. That sparked a beautiful evolution. Soon she was asking for custom lanterns, place cards, favour boxes and many other wedding pieces. My crafting journey had unexpectedly blossomed into creating truly stunning bespoke wedding magic, piece by heartfelt piece. Now I'm here sharing my journey with you as you embark on your own beautiful journey.
That first year was a journey of learning and rediscovery. I turned a corner from hobbyist to maker: refining my designs, investing in better tools, and listening closely to what people liked. I found particular satisfaction in creating handcrafted wedding favor boxes and invitations — pieces that mark important moments in other people's lives. Making something meaningful for a couple’s special day felt like a wonderful way to bring my creativity into the world.
Today, I run Bcreativeandcrafty, where I combine affordable pricing with carefully made, personalized crafts. My work is driven by attention to detail and the belief that handcrafted items add warmth and personality to celebrations. I still enjoy every step of the process — from the first design to the finished product — and I’m grateful that a long-held passion has become the heart of what I do.
As a novice in this field, I have diligently worked to establish myself and launch my own business. The journey has been remarkable, and I find it hard to believe that I am now able to create such beautiful crafts. From exquisite wedding favour boxes to beautiful invitations, the possibilities have proven to be truly limitless.
